Frequently Asked Questions

Listed here are some common questions delegates may have regarding ScrippsMUN. If you don't see your question answered here, feel free to send it to us via the contact form, our email address, or the chat box below! Best of luck!

What should I bring to the conference?

You don't need to bring much, but we would suggest the following:

  • A small notepad for notetaking or speechwriting

  • Pens and/or pencils for notetaking, writing messages, or jotting down ideas

  • Any notes/research you may have (ie. position papers or rules of procedure documents)

  • A cell phone/laptop to draft working papers and resolutions

  • Water and lunch (if you do not plan on buying it)

  • And of course, excitement for MUN!

What should I do the night before the conference?

First of all, don't fret! Accept that you will make mistakes, and know that whether you are successful at the conference or not, you came out of it a better person than when you went in. On a more practical note, make sure you have all your notes and research in order and printed out, and confirm the location/times. Most importantly, get a good night's sleep; at this point, an extra hour of research won't help you much.

What types of awards are given at ScrippsMUN?

These may change from year to year. Some types of awards that are commonly given (per committee) are:

  • Rapporteur: Awarded to a delegate nominated by their peers for exceptional diplomacy.

  • Research: Awarded to a delegate who demonstrates outstanding research.

  • Outstanding Delegate: Awarded to delegates who were overall excellent in their research, writing, and public speaking.

  • Best Delegate: The most prestigious ScrippsMUN award, given to the delegate who exhibits extraordinary skills in committee.

Again, these may change, so keep an eye out for the conference guide that will be sent out shortly before the conference.
